With a background in public health nutrition, Kathy Trieu is a Research Fellow in the Food Policy Division (and World Health Organization Collaborating Centre on Population Salt Reduction), at the George Institute for Global Health, and a conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales.

She is currently a NHMRC and Heart Foundation Early Career Fellow and her research focuses on addressing diet-related disease burden through examining the impact of nutrition on cardiovascular diseases and NCDs as well as developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and interventions to improve nutrition for different populations worldwide. Her research expertise are in dietary assessment methods, implementation science, dietary modelling and process and outcome evaluation of complex interventions and policies.

Through her involvement in the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre on Population Salt Reduction, Kathy has strong experience in translating research findings to impact policy and practice, and has conducted policy-oriented research alongside governments and NGOs in seven countries so far. Her research aspirations involve undertaking strong-quality research that can usefully inform effective strategies and policies to improve population-wide health and nutrition for the prevention of NCDs.
