Want to use your creative digital experience for a good cause? An opportunity exists for a Digital Assistant to join our expanding communications team. You must have a passion for digital storytelling, a knack for developing and choosing content that will work across our global platforms, and of course, the ability to churn out tweets when needed!
The successful candidate will be working from our Sydney office and have a pivotal role in promoting our world-class health research to our stakeholders, the public, other academics around the globe and the media.
We’re looking for someone who knows what content works best on Twitter vs Facebook and how to maximise engagement. Someone that loves writing and storytelling but is also able to spot opportunities to promote our research across multiple platforms.
To achieve this you will:
- Manage day-to-day web publishing and content updates for The George Institute, Australia website and social media platforms
- Co-ordinate with both the communications and research teams to write and/or edit web stories (news stories, staff profiles, blogs etc)
- Be responsible for online monitoring and reporting of new and relevant events
- Provide both technical and digital support, and expertise for events
- Plan and co-ordinate social media campaigns and toolkits
- Draft monthly E-newsletter copy using Mailchimp
- Take responsibility for metrics reporting using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Ads, SEO keyword research and social media analytics
Your success will be based on a range of your key skills and experience:
Essential
- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in digital media, communications or public relations
- 1-3 years’ experience demonstrating your skills and experience in digital media and communications
- Experience in writing engaging content for digital media
- Skilled in social media management across Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Ability to perform desktop research for content and users on the web and social media
Desirable
- Prior experience with content management systems (Drupal or Wordpress) and web design
- Knowledge of Adobe and office suites or similar tools for optimizing content for social media
- An understanding or ability to learn and report social media analytics
- Experience working with MailChimp or similar email marketing tools with skills to design emailers and e-newsletters
- Prior experience working with medical research and public health sector or education sector will be a bonus
- Knowledge of HTML, SEO, web design, UX concepts and optimizing Google ad campaigns (training can be provided)
