Dr Yang Li

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Dr Yang Li Yang is interested in epidemiology and biostatistics. She been working on large epidemiological and clinical studies exploring trends of varied health conditions and their risk factors over than ten years.

Yang had conducted epidemiological research in childhood obesity for her doctoral thesis. She had hold different research positions at The University of New South Wales, The University of Technology, Sydney, and The University of Sydney etc. prior to The George Institute. Over the years Yang has developed extensive experience in data management, large data handling and statistical analysis.

Yang joined The George Institute in 2010 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Critical Care and Trauma Division at the George Institute managing the Intensive Insulin Therapy Trialists Collaboration (IIT-TC) project between 2010 and 2014.The IIT-TC project was designed to combine individual patient data from all randomised controlled trials of tight glucose control in critically ill adults around the world to conduct individual patient meta-analysis aiming to provide the most robust and reliable evidence possible to address the hypothesis that tight glycaemic control reduces all-cause mortality in both critically ill adults overall, and in predefined subgroups. Yang had conducted the primary data analysis for this project upon the completion of its data collection.

In recent few years, Yang has been participating in ICU research in the areas of glycaemic control and fluid resuscitation primarily focusing on conducting statistical analyses by applying different statistical modelling techniques to investigate potential associations between patients’ baseline characteristics, clinical signs/indications and treatment outcomes.

Yang is currently undertaking postgraduate study in Biostatistics as for her continuing professional development in the aim of establishing solid foundations in mathematics and biostatistics that relate to medical research.
