Dr Maryam Correa is the Head of Operations at The George Institute for Global Health, Australia. In this role she leads strategic oversight of services and operational platforms for Academic Project Operations, Commissioned Research, Community and Consumer Involvement and Administration. Maryam also holds a Conjoint Senior Lecturer appointment with UNSW, Faculty of Medicine, Executive Committee member of Clinical Trials: Impact & Quality (CT:IQ), Chair of AAMRI Research Strategy Steering Committee, Advisory Committee member of PRAXIS Training and a member of NSW Health, Community of Practice.
She has over 19 years of experience in clinical research and has previously lead activities within Australia as the Head of Academic Project Operations, Manager of Global Internal Training (Research and Project Operations), Lead Project Manager in Critical Care Medicine and Clinical Trial Specialist in therapeutic field of gastroenterology and hepatic disease. Her expertise is in operational leadership and strategic planning including, stakeholder management, finance, training and development, quality management, project and program management.
Maryam has a PhD in anatomical and physiological research of development of sense of taste in humans with an aim at understanding the maturity of the taste system and the establishment of clinical tests for children. The latter are being applied to studies of disorders of taste and strategies for managing chemosensory dysfunctions.
