In 2012, our FoodSwitch smartphone application was developed and launched in Australia using our Food Policy’s branded food composition database. FoodSwitch is continuing to capture product data and in return provide consumers with access to easy-to-understand nutritional information about packaged and processed foods.
An exciting, casual opportunity exists for Field Data Collectors to join our growing organisation. The Field Data Collector is required to assist in the collection and maintenance of the FoodSwitch data.
To achieve this you will:
- Collect data from nutrition information panels of food products in supermarkets
- Upload data to The George Institute’s branded food database
- Food product name and barcode matching, checking and validation
- Update existing data on database, where required
- General administrative duties
Your success will be based on a range of your key skills and experience:
- Good knowledge of supermarket food products
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Good attention to detail and strong focus on quality of work
- Experience working with Google Sheets
- Interest or experience in Dietetics or research is desirable
