We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst to work within multidisciplinary teams by providing statistical support on existing and new projects of the Institute that have a health systems focus.


To achieve this you will:

  • Support the Institute's existing health systems-related projects to ensure research teams have the necessary capacity to implement health systems research methods
  • Identify potential sources of routinely collected data available in Australia.
  • Support international analyses with a focus on Australia, China and India.
  • Assist with accessing data sources by liaising with relevant data custodians.
  • Help develop research proposals and funding applications involving health system analyses.
  • Assist with data linkage and preparation for analysis
  • Perform analyses of routinely collected data using SAS.
  • Prepare internal and external reports.
  • Contribute to the preparation of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders including members of the statistics division and researchers from the Centre for Health Systems Science.
  • Engage with external individuals and organisations with health systems research expertise to develop strategic partnerships

Your success will be based on a range of your key skills and experience:

  • Postgraduate (honours, masters or PhD) qualifications in Statistics
  • 2 years of experience analysing health or medical research data
  • Excellent working knowledge of SAS software
  • Understanding of data management principles in health and medical research, such as in clinical trials or linked administrative health data
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary research teams and managing relationships with external partners
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well flexibly, i.e. independently and engaging with research teams
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy laws and guidelines relevant to medical and public health research
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with routinely collected and linked data desirable
