Xiongfei Pan is a visiting epidemiologist in the Food Policy group at the George Institute. He is also affiliated with the School of Public Health, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where he received postdoctoral training and leads a team working on the Shuangliu Birth Cohort Study.

Xiongfei has a PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Sichuan University, and a MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Xiongfei’s research interests include investigating the impact of lifestyle and behavior factors on major cardiometabolic diseases through large cohort studies. He is also interested in identifying early life determinants and interventions for childhood and adulthood health outcomes through a life-course approach.

He is leading the large-scale Shuangliu Birth Cohort Study (~10,000 parents and their offspring) to assess perinatal environmental and biological risk factors for major maternal and child health outcomes such as gestational diabetes in China.
