Chinese partnerships are vital for universities and global research

On 2 November, Peking University Health Science Centre (PUHSC) had a fruitful meeting with a delegation from The George Institute for Global Health (TGI) and UNSW Sydney.

Participants of the meeting included a delegation of eight from TGI, led by Principal Directors Professor Robyn Norton and Stephen MacMahon, and six-member delegation from UNSW Sydney, led by Professor Ian Jacobs, President and Vice-Chancellor, and representatives from PUHSC including Professor Duan Liping, Vice President of PUHSC, Professor Sun Qiudan, Director of Office of International Cooperation, Professor Han Hongbin, Director of Scientific Research, Professor Xu Ming, Executive Vice Dean of Graduate School and Professor Jian Weiyan, Associate Dean of School of Public Health.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Robyn expressed her sincere wishes for the 105th Anniversary of the establishment of Peking University Health Science Centre, reviewed the friendly cooperation between the Peking University Health Science Centre and the George Institute for Global Health, reported major progress of The George Institute China in the fields of scientific research projects, article publication, organization operation, cooperation and events in 2017, and shared the research strategies and objects for the next year. The two sides then explored further opportunities for cooperation between the George Institute China and Peking University Health Science Centre and its affiliated hospitals.

“There are good basis for cooperation between The George Institute for Global Health and Peking University Health Science Centre,” Professor Craig Anderson, Executive Director of the George Institute China said, “We will continue to play a leading role on the international stage, further strengthen cooperation in the field of medical science, expecting to safeguard the health of the Chinese people and even people worldwide.”

Professor Duan Liping, Vice President of Peking University Health Science Centre, also extended congratulations on the 10th anniversary of The George Institute for Global Health in China, hoping both sides can continue to deepen cooperation and support each other.

Afterwards, the delegates from UNSW Sydney made in-depth experience exchanges with their counterparts from Peking University Health Science Centre, reviewed and presented their work carried out respectively.
